“Footballers… have sympathies, we have regards for the feelings and the sorrows of others, and in this sad blow to the family and our club, we have such feelings.” – Jimmy Quinn – Celtic FC on the death of John H McLaughlin.
As a Founding Father of Celti, John H McLaughlin was the future first Chairman of the club. He was said to be the best legislator in the land, and a man who was to play not only a pivotal role in the founding of Celtic, but also in bringing professionalism to Scottish Football & the formation of the Scottish League.
The birth of Celtic, professionalism and the introduction of the Scottish League were the three most progressive and far reaching developments in the early history of Scottish Football and John H McLaughlin was central to it all.
We hope you can join us at the ceremony and after at the Celtic Club on Londond Road, prior to kick off at Celtic Park against Inverness at 3pm.
